Sleep Safely (and Comfortably) While Camping In A Roof Top Tent

If you love camping then you're in good company. Camping is becoming very popular, in part because of the availability of high-quality camping equipment. And one of the best pieces of camping tool that you can buy is a rooftop tent.

A roof top tent is a tent that sits on the roof of any vehicle, though commonly a four-wheel-drive. Whilst not in use it is folded up favorably on the roof, often with all the bedding inside. And it is usually a simple matter for one person to fast unfold the tent rendering it immediately available for use.

Tents Travel

Though more expensive than a simple tent there's a range of reasons why you may want to spend a tiny bit more on buying a roof tent for your car.

You can camp anywhere, even on a pile of rocks, as long as you can park the car. You can do so fast and conveniently, and if you buy a model that allows you to erect a simple annex then you can also do so free from sunburn or rain.

If you're camping in perilous country, for example where there may be nasties like snakes or crocodiles, you can also camp safe in the knowledge that sleeping on the roof of the car you are safe.

The rooftop tent is not a new idea. A tent which goes on top of a motor car was designed originally some 50 years ago for expedition use, and these types of on car chamber have been in use for many years. This has been the case in Africa where camping out of the reach of lions, tigers and elephants is a huge advantage.

However if you think about the contemporary roof top tent it is not a new idea. In the wild West in America the primary settlers spent their time sleeping in covered wagons while travelling, and what is a covered wagon other than a covered tent on top of a vehicle? Just not on top of a motor vehicle.

However a contemporary roof tent offers all the same advantages of a covered wagon. A safe and fetch place where you can sleep everywhere you want.
